For the 4th of July my go to drink was the yummy lavender lemonade my boyfriend made. It is perfect for a hot summer day! I absolutely love the pink shade the lavender buds made! Here is the simple recipe you can try!
What you need:
- 7 1/2 cups of water
- 1/4 cup dried lavender buds
- 10-14 lemons (we used Meyers Lemons)
- 1 cup sugar
First juice your lemons. Meyers lemons tend to be smaller so we had to use more, but any lemons will do.
Now heat up 12 oz (or cup and a half) of water. You do not have to boil it, but make sure it is hot! Then add the lavender buds and let them steep for 5-10 mins. The longer you steep them the stronger the lavender taste will be, so it is up to you.
Carefully strain the buds out, and in your hot lavender water add the cup of sugar and stir until the sugar is dissolved.
Add the lemon juice, 6 cups of cold water and lavender sugar water all together in your pitcher. You can add lemon slices and mint leaves for more flavor and prettiness. Fill the pitcher with ice and enjoy!
Some added bonuses: I put fresh blueberries in the freezer and used them as my ice! It was delicious! And to kick it up a notch, I spiked my cup with Honey whiskey! Super yummy!
This recipe will definitely be a staple for me in this summer heat!
