Over the last few years I have given myself permission to access a long buried part of me: Intuition. I have allowed this gift to gently lead me in all aspects of my life. It has not always been easy to hand over the reins to intuition. Yet, she was there when it was time to make big choices and exercise deep rooted trust. I feel so called to share with you that the last area of my life to be kissed by intuition was my house of health.
Learning how to care for our bodies is not for the faint hearted. It takes a laser beam of dedication and deep love targeted on what feels like a permanently broken vessel and flawed habits impenetrable to fixing. It's a journey that can be filled with resurfacing shame, guilt and feelings of never enough. It can also be filled bowlfuls, cupfuls and spoonfuls of great comfort and peace just when we need it the most.
Caring for our bodies can be an opportunity to move closer to the earth, sinking roots into fertile ground meant only for us. Trusting that each simple shift will lead you to greater healing.
Let your intuition guide you, she is there for a reason.
I reside in Massachusetts, in a coastal town where the cool waters are deep and hold potent healing gifts. As bizarre as it sounds I feel like I have a profound connection to seaweed. This slippery, funny little plant has slowly become somewhat of a spirit guide for me. Allowing this connection to grow was absolutely fostered by my growing intuition. I don't know why this little plant reached out to me and captured my heart the way it did but I knew in my soul is was my job to pay attention.
Not too long ago, I submitted to her siren call and I was pulled to the churning waters to gather her up and bring her home. I was careful to only collect fresh plant life that had recently detached from their chosen home. The waves came one after another and I waded out to catch each precious bundle.
That night I filled a tub for each of us with warm sea salted water and a generous handful of this glossy, pungent plant. The warm water helped to release the gorgeous, healing gel inside. Seaweed is full of minerals, vitamins and trace elements key to our health. It soothes and moisturizes the skin, especially beneficial for those who suffer with eczema and psoriasis. It can also help to detoxify the body, reduce cellulite, regulate our metabolism and aids in hormone balancing. Leaning back in my tub that night, surrounded by candles I pictured myself a mermaid and felt so grateful for the gift of connection to the land around me.
After our nutrient rich baths, the rest of our treasure was gently rinsed in cool water, patted dry and laid onto baking sheets to dry in the oven set on low for many hours. We now have two large jars stuffed full of freshly dried seaweed at the ready when our bodies tell us it's time for more.
I revel at the fact that I get to have these types of gifts in my life. This one experience has reignited the flame of my innermost passion...to live a deeply rooted life and share it with others. Intuition is already pulling me on new adventures that I can't wait to share with you.
We'd love to know what journeys YOUR intuition has led you on, leave a comment below and tell us your story love!
Have a gorgeous weekend!
