Mata means "Mother" in Hindi and is a tribute to Shakti - The female creative power in all of us.
Three best friends with a serious case of wanderlust set out on an around-the-world adventure and landed in Mother India for four months. Enamoured with the people, markets, and colorful textiles, they vowed to make the country a part of their life story.
A love affair with India has evolved into Mata Traders – a design driven, fair trade brand helping to end global poverty and inspire ethical companies and consumers to change the fashion industry. Made by artisans in India and Nepal, our colorfully original designs are now sold in 50 states and 12 countries, and provide a stable source of income for families in some of the world’s poorest communities.
Mata Traders fair trade clothing and accessories are made by the hands of artisans in India and Nepal. Every item we sell is an original piece, and many incorporate craft traditions that date back centuries, such as block printing and embroidery.
Our artisans come from rural areas, tribal villages, and urban slums, but they all want the same thing – the chance to earn a fair wage and lift their families and communities out of poverty.
The Mata Mission
The Mata Traders mission is to ‘fashion a better world’ by creating designs that
celebrate a woman’s originality and empower her to use her dollar for change. We
merge uncommonly vibrant style with fair trade practices to make an impact on
global poverty – bringing fair wages to artisans in India and Nepal.
Mata Traders isn’t just about a flattering fit. We celebrate the talents and culture of the individuals who create our products. When factory-made textiles became prevalent many years ago, printers and weavers in India and Nepal were forced to turn to more menial forms of work to support their families, leaving artisan skills that were passed down for generations to be lost.
In a time of globalization and fast-paced technology, we’re proud to support the groups of traditional fabric producers and jewelry makers who remain active today. Artisans utilizing techniques like hand embroidery, block printing, jewelry making, and screen printing have made Mata Traders the spunky, stylish brand it has become.

Casablanca Market offers an exclusive collection of handmade fine home goods and accessories from around the Mediterranean region including Morocco and Tunisia. 80% of our goods are handmade by women. It’s simple, we believe that it’s always a good idea to support and sustain small women artisan’s enterprises, because the people behind these businesses tend to be the backbone of their families, their children, their communities and they take a great pride and care a great deal about the products they make. In a time where most goods we own are mass-produced or disposable, it's nice to spend money on something that is the result of generations of tradition and a unique skill. There is something just a bit more special about a thing that has a story behind it.
Casablanca Market is giving away one of their beautiful Market Baskets over on our instagram @bohemiancollective - Go enter to win one for yourself! Also today is the last day to get 40% off all their rugs!
As a creative and maker, I've always been a lover of the moon, and over the years I've developed my own lunar practice through observation, note taking and more than a little bit of trial and error. I've been creating jewelry, candles and perfume for nine years now at Bella deLuna Designs, most of it lunar and astrology inspired, but I wanted a way to share my lunar work and inspire others to get comfortable with, and empowered by, their own manifestation magic.
And so Nova Luna was born. Nova Luna is a monthly New Moon box that is delivered right to your door. Every box is hand curated with magical items such as smudge sticks, gemstones, aromatherapy, altar pieces, incense, and candles. Each piece is carefully chosen to resolve around a theme dealing that month’s New Moon and which zodiac sign that moon is in. A suggested ritual is included, but prompts and room are given to make the ritual your own. Thetheme of each box is different, but since New Moon’s are a time of manifestation and putting your desires out into the universe, they all focus on some type of manifestation. This can be personal or global, depending on the zodiac sign the moon is in, and what that means for the astrological dynamics at play.
Now if you’re not big into subscriptions, no worries! You can easily subscribe to just one month, skip months, or just get the months you want for when you feel your New Moon manifestation mojo needs a little boost.
